About K&I Pine Flooring
At K&I, we duplicate these truly fine traditional floors in their original form by manufacturing from top grade white pine trees, exceptionally wide random width planks ranging from 5 inches to 18 inches.
The key to a gap free or tight floor lies in the dryness of the wood. All of K&I's wide plank flooring is first spaced, piled and air dried before being kiln dried to a moisture content of between 6% and 8%. The final adjustment for moisture is made by piling and spacing materials close to the area where the floor is to be installed on your site, with gentle heat for a minimum of 2 weeks before finally being installed. With these precautions, a gap free floor is assured.
The state of the art technology and almost limitless choices of todays stains and finishes plays a key role in this soft wood floor. These traditional stains and pigments allow for an immediate country look to be achieved from the moment the floor is installed. If the floor looks old, then the floor can be marked and marred without looking offensive. Pine flooring with this traditional appearance is one of the most practical, easy to care for and versatile floor coverings today. Maintained properly, pine flooring should never have to be replaced. K&I duplicating stain was designed specifically to eliminate the worry of a wood floor marking over the years of use. This look of a century old pine floor is truly popular and can be seen in the homes of many happy K&I customers!
